Without a budget, it is useless and meaningless to recommend anything. And what's your HT needs? Movies, music? Room size? You need small satellite speakers, larger bookshelves, or floorstanders?

I'd also suggest you look for speakers from speaker manufacturers, rather than Sony. The make good electronics, but speakers is a totally different story.

by Craig_Nike » Tue Dec 31, 2002 3:39 pm

Just to give you a balanced viewpoint (i.e. to confuse you) I think Sony speakers are fine and all 7 of mine are Sony.

The SAV835 is a great satalite package.
Otherwise the SSX70ES are awesome floorstanding speakers.

All depends on your budget though.

Which ever way you go most people recomend trying to get a pack of speakers that match - all one brand from the ame family if possible.

Kit-Kat- Another consideration is how

by Maxxwire » Wed Jan 01, 2003 2:26 am

Kit-Kat- Another consideration is how much the DB 1080 will be used for Movies and how much for Music.

I use my Audio System mostly for Music, so I chose a pair of full range Main speakers that were designed for Music reproduction. The rear and center speakers were adequate ones I found on sale. Basicly I spent my cash in the area of my greatest interest.

If you are more into using your DB 1080 for Movies, you might look for the best deal you can find on a complete set of seakers that fits your budget. I do agree with Ray though in that Sony is not famous for their Speakers. Shop the post holiday sales and see what you come up with. If you give us more specific information, we can give more specific answers.

Happy Hunting!!!

To listen radio, music, movies, etc...so that´s why i´m very interested to buy the best speakers.
I´m thinking in buy the speakers from time to time if i couldn´t afford it .
I prefer to get the best speakers but start with only 2 and continue buying the rest by months than buy all and had worst quality sound.

Sorry for my bad english knowlegde.
All your answers will be very appreciated.

Kit-Kat- Buying two quality speakers

by Maxxwire » Wed Jan 01, 2003 11:41 pm

Kit-Kat- Buying two quality speakers to start with sounds like a great idea. Your two Main Speakers should be the best ones anyway.

I taught English as a second language for five years when I lived in Taiwan and I think your Posts are perfectly understandable!

Please let us know what speakers you get, and how good they sound.

KIT-KAT - One important thing to

by rkkwan » Thu Jan 02, 2003 11:55 am

KIT-KAT -

One important thing to keep in mind is that eventually you want to get a complete 5.1 set of speakers from the same manufacturer, of the same product line. So even if you're just getting a pair of fronts for now, you should look for speakers that has accompanying center channels and surrounds that you can add later.

As for specific speaker brands and models, you need to set a budget, and then go to hi-fi stores to see what's there.

I want to buy all

by KIT-KAT » Thu Jan 02, 2003 12:29 pm

I want to buy all the speakers at the same time.
Only in case i see a cheaper budget or similar i´ll prefer to buy a decent speakers.
I´ll buy all the speakers from the same brand.

I´m a fan addict since a lot of years ago.

I have beeen looking at web from Sony and i don´t see so much speakers which liked to me.

Also subwoffers which are sold separately had bad looking (for me).

But i read SS-LAC505ED works so good.
I like SS-LA500ED but this series doesn´t had a very good looking subwoffer.

i look for SA-VE835ED budget but only comes with 5 speakers + subwoffer.

I´m planning to use 6+1 speakers so i ´ll need an extra speaker and this type of speaker are not sold by separate....

I´m a bit frustrating....

All help would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance

The 835 are DEFINATELY sold

by Craig_Nike » Thu Jan 02, 2003 4:51 pm

The 835 are DEFINATELY sold seperately here is Australia - and I'm pretty sure they are in the USA also.

So yuo have to buy the 5.1 set first and then buy an additional single.

FYI the price comparison in Aus Dollars is $2000 for the set and then $300 for single matching speakers.

Hope this helps.

by Chappers » Fri Jan 03, 2003 6:42 am

You can definitely buy a separate speaker for the 835 system. The model number is SSV831 . Although it is quite difficult to find somewhere that will sell it.

I am having the same problem. I am looking to get the 1080 receiver and am not sure about the speakers. I am torn between the 835 or possibly Mission FS1AV or FS2AV . All about the same price bracket.

I listen to a mixture of TV, DVD and music, so might keep my two front mains from my hi-fi and have them as "speaker B" so I can switch.
