My Sony Ericsson W810i mobile phone has started switching itself off when in my pocket.  No problem when it's plugged into the car.  Any ideas, please?

liathach,

Greetings and welcome!

I own this same fantastic phone--- love it.

As the phone stays powered up when it is plugged into the cars power source it sounds like the battery is going bad. Even in your pocket it would be hard to accidentally hit the recessed power button to power off the phone so my guess would be that the battery needs replacement.

Please let us know how things work out.

Best of luck,
Joe

Thank you.  I'll keep an eye on it.  As you say, it's would be hard to accidentally press the power button.  Phone is only two years old but it might be worth investing in a new battery.  Thanks again.

You are entirely welcome. I hope the new battery solves the shutting off problem.

We may have cracked it!  I bought a new battery and, so far, the phone hasn't switched itself off - three days now.

Regards,
