David,

If they are sounding great already just wait till they have some break in time.  Great pics as always. Thank you again for this fantastic thread. It has been a pleasure keeping up with.

Looks Awesome David!   Looks very similar to mine, but mine is a skyscraper!  Equipment is VERY similar for sure!   I will be sure to post pics when I get home.

Completed interconnect with modified RCA connectors & Furutech FA-13S wire.  This cable 66 cm (26") long.

Great job David! I recently finished a project using Furutech wire and I must say the results have been very satisfying and definitely worth the extra cost for Furutech quality. It sure is better to have 1 great one you use than a pile of ones you don't use...

Your woodworking skills are pretty good. I ended buying a rack for my components :/

The stand is almost 2 years old now.  It doesn't seem that long ago that I completed it.

I have pushed it out from the wall many times while painting the wall behind the stand, changing interconnect wires or changing/rearranging components.  The stand is still as solid as the day I completed it.

I recently changed & rearranged components on the stand.

One of the DA5700ES receivers is now on the 2 channel stand, this is for HD audio.  The TV on the top shelf is for display of information from the DA5700ES receiver.  The TV is a Toshiba 24" 24SL410U  LCD display with LED backlight and up to 1920x1080p resolution.

The HDD for DA audio is on the top shelf in front of the TV.  The HDD is sitting on a black foam based mouse pad.

What capacity is the Western Digital HDD you are using?

The HDD is 2 TB.  It is as a single partition in NTFS format.

The HDD enclosure is designed to stand upright on the rubber feet shown on the left side in this picture.  IMO this is unstable & easily knocked over, possibly also causing drive failure.  I also found that audio performance improved when the HDD rested on the large flat surface.

The plastic case has good vent slits in the 3 flat edges.  I added SoundCoat to the inside of the large flat surfaces & drilled the extra ventilation holes shown on the top surface.

I also took an idea from your V-Link thread.

Power input to the HDD is 12V DC.  I added a 1000 uF 35V capacitor across the power input.  This helps stabilize voltage to the HDD.

SQ is impressive.  Audio from the HDD holds up in a head to head comparison against a DVP-S9000ES.  I will soon be posting details in the Sony STR-DA5700ES A/V Receiver Review thread.
