I have been on the lookout for one of these in good condition for a while, even out bid on ebay.  I finally got a near mint unit locally about 1 week ago.

I wanted it primarily for its 2 channel SACD output & to add a copper coated chassis unit to my collection.

It is in near mint condition, here are a couple quick photos.

Close up of an edge of the copper coated chassis.

Only the bottom & rear panels of this are copper coated.  Some other models pictured on the web appear to have more panels that are copper coated.

The unit overall is very & solid but the Sony could have improved the top case.  I added Soundcoat to the underside of the top case & a few other areas.

Nice pictures. They really are stunning in mint condition.

Do you also think the tray should have been made a little tougher?

Even the back & underside are beautifully finished.

I don't think this was designed for use by young children.  The tray looks like it could break easily.  The tray of the NS999ES is identical to the tray of the N9000ES.

Nice. I was thinking of getting one of these but the XA7ES sated my lust for a piece with a copper coated chassis!

I believe the DVP-S7000 also has a copper chassis (no SACD though). It is an ES quality DVD player but just doesn't have the ES designation.

Actually it's the DVP-S7700 that has a copper chassis.

I have the original Sony glossy brochure for the DVP-S7700, but couldn't afford the player then.

The DVP-S7700 is a "lightweight" considering it has a copper chassis.  It weighs in at 7.0 kg compared to 12.6 kg for the DVP-S9000ES.

I have enjoyed my DVP-S9000ES since I purchased it new about 10 years ago. I recently considered  upgrading to a 5400ES; but, I realized it would not be an upgrade.

I really like the blue diamond light on the top center of the units facia, it's just plain cool. The chicks dig it.

Hello Sterling1,

Truly the best of both worlds. A world class SACD/DVD player and a "Chick Magnet" as well. Can't beat that combo.
