He's a character that goes around biting people's heads off and eating brains. So we tried to respect that as much as we could."

I compared it to what THE FORCE AWAKENS is to STAR WARS. It is continuing a story but bringing in new characters. We need to kind of change it up. My pitch for [the new] GALAXY QUEST was, ‘How can we kind of blow this out and pay off things for the fans that love GALAXY QUEST."'
The original movie starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman.

Image

BEWITCHED---ABC interracial reboot pilot of the sitcom is underway described as, "Samantha, a hardworking black single mom who happens to be a witch, marries Darren, a white mortal who happens to be a bit of a slacker. Image

GAME OF THRONES---visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer's comments hinted the Season 8 premiere might be in mid-2019 or later, “In two years we’ll be eligible [for Emmys] for the Season 8 work, which we’re just beginning now. We’re going to be toiling away on Season 8 until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away…But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot. So we’ll still have quite a lot to do on Season 8 when they’re beginning.”

STAR TREK---William Shatner, 87, said he is not interested in doing a new STAR TREK series now that Patrick Stewart is returning for a new Jean-Luc Picard series, "Right now I’m happy doing what I’m doing. CBS TV Studios head David Stapf said there are no plans for a Shatner Trek series, but he added, "I would say, never say never."

THE WALKING DEAD---Cassady McClincy will play Lydia, Alpha's daughter, in Season 9.

Image

HALLOWEEN--Danny McBride, the sequel's co-writer, commented on fans complaining that sequels are ruining their childhoods, "In this day and age, Hollywood is tapping into so many beloved franchises that it seems like any time anything comes out there’s the contingency of people that are stoked, and the contingency of people that are f*cking p*ssed off and saying you ruined their childhood somehow. I hope this thing tips more into the world of people liking it. I hope we don’t ruin too many childhoods."

LOGAN---Ethan Hawke said the superhero movie is not as good as some claim, "Now we have the problem that they tell us LOGAN is a great movie. Well, it’s a great superhero movie. It still involves people in tights with metal coming out of their hands. It’s not Bresson. It’s not Bergman. But they talk about it like it is. I went to see LOGAN cause everyone was like, “This is a great movie” and I was like, “Really? No, this is a fine superhero movie.” There’s a difference but big business doesn’t think there’s a difference. Big business wants you to think that this is a great film because they wanna make money off of it."

SUPERGIRL---a rumor says Reed Morano is the top candidate to direct the movie.

X FACTOR ITALY---Asia Argento has been fired from the series following the scandal in which she paid $380,000 to a then 17 year-old boy and former co-star who filed a lawsuit claiming she sexually abused him.

THE CONNORS---John Goodman confirmed the ROSEANNE spinoff series will involve Roseanne being killed off when he commented on Dan Connor's mood in the new series, “It’s an unknown. I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.” He added, "I know for a fact that she’s not a racist...[Roseanne] had to sign a paper saying that she relinquished all her rights to the show so that we could go on".

Image

HALLOWEEN---sequel photo released of Michael Myers in his traditional head tilt.

Image

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA---Seven Bucks Production head Hiram Garcia said the Dwayne Johnson movie will be a sequel to the John Carpenter movie that starred Kurt Russell, "... the idea is not to actually remake BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. You can’t remake a classic like that, so what we’re planning to do is we’re going to continue the story. We’re going to continue the universe of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. Everything that happened in the original exists and is standalone and I think there’s only one person that could ever play Jack Burton, so Dwayne would never try and play that character. So we are just having a lot of fun. We’re actually in a really great space with the story that we’ve cracked. But yeah, no remake. It is a continuation..."

Image

THE JOKER--Alec Baldwin will play Thomas Wayne, Batman's father, in the Joaquin Phoenix movie.

THE BATMAN---Ben Affleck recently entered a rehab clinic for the second time in just over a year which led to speculation he might be replaced in THE BATMAN because his insurance will be too expensive. A bond company representative said, “More than likely the studio will replace him because the insurance costs are going to go through the roof."
An attorney specializing in insurance and bonds said, “He would be bondable, but the deductible would be really high, probably the budget of the film."

JAMES BOND---a British tabloid claims Danny Boyle left the 25th Bond movie because producer Barbara Broccoli wanted Bond to die because it will be Daniel Craig's last Bond movie, “There were discussions about killing off Bond in dramatic fashion at the end. It would also leave it open for a twist in the next instalment – either Bond hadn’t died or there could be a Doctor Who-esque regeneration with a new actor.
There were clashes over budget and there’s pandemonium among crew with people leaving the production left, right and centre. There are fears the film will be put back months and backroom staff are worried about where their next pay cheque is coming from.”

THE WALKING DEAD---Ryan Hurst (SONS OF ANARCHY) will have the recurring role of Beta, Alpha's right hand man in The Whisperers.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD---Polish actor Rafal Zawierucha will play director Roman Polanski in the Quentin Tarantino movie about the Charles Manson Cult murders.

CHILD'S PLAY---the remake movie plot involves, “A defective ‘Buddy doll’ whose programming code was hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and also violence" instead of a doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer.

THE STORY OF A CRIME---new Netflix crime anthology series underway. Season 1 will be about the 1994 murder of Mexican presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio.

TRIVIA---Alfred Hitchcock's NORTH BY NORTHWEST begins with Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant) being abducted by thugs Licht (Robert Ellenstein) and Valerian (Adam Williams).

Image

In the classic crop-duster scene, the crop-duster was flown by Bob Coe, a California crop-duster. At his funeral, a photograph of the scene was attached to Coe's casket.

Image

Some sources incorrectly claim Adam Williams (Adam William Berg) not only played Valerian, but he was also the real crop-duster pilot because he was awarded the Navy Cross as a SB2C Helldiver pilot from the aircraft carrier USS Wasp during the Battle of the Philippine Sea in World War II, and he was an FAA flight examiner.

Image

A unfilmed scene showed thug Licht (Ellenstein) was the gunner in the crop-duster. When the crop-duster crashes into the oil truck, Licht's fiery death is implied because he is never seen in the rest of the movie.

Image

Another of Ellenstein's memorable roles include the Federation President in STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME.

Image

Ellenstein played the Nazi villain Heinz in the MOONLIGHTING tv movie pilot with Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis.

BLADE---Wesley Snipes confirmed he is in talks with Marvel Studios for another sequel to the 1988 movie, “All the main execs [Marvel Studios] and my team, we’ve been discussing for the past two years. Everyone’s enthusiastic about it, everybody gets it. But they got a business to run and they gotta square the things that they gotta figure out before they can get to it, I guess. In the meantime, we got a business to run and our own slate of things to do so. But the next time you see something in [BLADE], mark my words: What we did before is child’s play compared to what we can do now.”
Snipes also commented on his alleged bad behavior while filming BLADE: TRINITY in which Patton Oswalt said Snipes remained in character during the entire filming and feuded with director David Goyer, "Once again, I’ll say to you, sir, look at the source of information. I didn’t know Patton Oswalt was a method actor. Would he know the difference?"
Snipes said about claims he stayed in his trailer and communicated with director Goyer using post-it notes, "That may have happened. I wouldn’t say it was frequent. Because our whole crew was banished to another side of the island of production. The only way we could sometimes get messages since we didn’t have the radio, was to get it there by courier or pigeon sometimes [laughs]."

Image

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX---casting for a female character code-named Karine who is described as a, "younger Charlize Theron with street smarts" with "a good sense of humor".

MY DINNER WITH HERVE---Peter Dinklage commented on claims that his portrayal of Herve Villechaize in the HBO movie is "whitewashing" because Villechaize was supposedly half-Filipino, "There’s this term ‘whitewashing.’ I completely understand that. But Herve wasn’t Filipino. Dwarfism manifests physically in many different ways. I have a very different type of dwarfism than Hervé had. I’ve met his brother and other members of his family. He was French, and of German and English descent. So it’s strange these people are saying he’s Filipino. They kind of don’t have any information.
This [movie] isn’t BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. Personally, I would never do that, and I haven’t done that, because he wasn’t. People are jumping to conclusions based on a man’s appearance alone and that saddens me.”

Image

JOKER---Alec Baldwin said he's left the Joaquin Phoenix movie due to a schedule problem, “I’m no longer doing that movie. I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”

Image

DHAKA---Chris Hemsworth stars in this Netflix/Russo brothers movie about a man who must rescue a kidnapped Indian boy.

STAR WARS---Dave Bautista said he was tuned down for a role in a STAR WARS movie, "I’ve actually auditioned for a couple of STAR WARS [movies] and they’ve turned me down. It was always a dream of mine to be in a STAR WARS film." Bautista's sharp criticism of Walt Disney Studios firing James Gunn from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 will probably lessen his chances even more.

THE ELEPHANT MAN---Scope, a British disability charity, has criticized the BBC for not casting a disabled actor to star in the miniseries about deformed Joseph Merrick. Charlie Heaton, an able-bodied actor, will play Merrick. Scope representative Phil Talbot said, "It's disappointing that a disabled actor has not been cast in the remake of THE ELEPHANT MAN as it's one of the most recognizable films to portray a disabled character.
This is a missed opportunity but sadly, a lack of diversity in the industry is nothing new."

THE NUN---director Corin Hardy claims he saw the ghosts of Romanian soldiers while filming in an old Romanian fortress, "While we were filming, the DOP (director of photography) was rigging up this tracking shot in this 200-foot corridor and I'm in a black sealed room. As I went into the room I saw what I thought were Romanian crew members sitting in the darkness. I said, 'Hey, how you doing?'"
He added, "I was watching the monitor and it was about a half-hour trying to get this tracking shot right and it was quite frustrating. I'm in this pitch black room and when we finally got it I turn around and go, 'Did you see that?' I turned around and looked over my shoulder and there was no one there! There had never been anyone in the room. There couldn't have been, because the only way out was the door next to me."

SHAMELESS---Emmy Rossum announced she is leaving the series.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX---photos released from the set in Black Park, England supposedly show part of the Millennium Falcon hidden in a jungle or forest. A rumor says a Rebel base is hidden in a cave on the jungle/forest planet.

Image

Image

STAR TREK---Karl Urban said Quentin Tarantino wants his Trek movie to be R-rated, "Quentin Tarantino went in to J.J. [Abrams]’s offices and pitched him an idea for a STAR TREK movie. I know a little bit about what that is and it’s bananas... You shouldn’t worry that it is going to be full of obscenity and stuff. He wants an R-rating to really make those beats of consequence land. If it’s not PG, if someone gets sucked out into space, which we have all seen before, we might see them get disemboweled first… It allows some some breadth… gives him some leeway to do that. To me, that was always one of the things I loved about what DeForest Kelley did. He would actually capture the horror of space. That look in his eyes of sheer terror always struck me when I was a kid."
Urban commented on Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth not returning for STAR TREK 4, "Hopefully, we get back for another movie, or two of them. We are just sort of waiting on negotiations. I’m confident we will."

STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER---William Shatner said in his upcoming memoir, LIVE LONG AND...WHAT I MIGHT HAVE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY, that his compromise with Gene Roddenbery and the producers to direct STAR TREK V doomed the movie. They rejected Shatner's original idea of Kirk trying to rescue Spock and Dr. MCoy from Hell where God is really Satan, so Shatner changed the idea to the search for God who is really an alien, so he could direct the sequel, “I had a choice. I could accept the compromise or refuse to direct the movie. I made a mistake; I accepted the compromise, which doomed the picture from the beginning. [The decision was] consistent with who I was at the time.”

Image

Image

WONDER WOMAN 1984---Robin Wright confirmed she will return as General Antiope who will appear in a flashback scene.

DIE HARD---the official title for the sixth DIE HARD movie is McCLANE. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said the sequel will feature Bruce Willis and a young John McClane, "I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce. The idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version."

10 MINUTES GONE---Michael Chiklis (THE SHIELD) will co-star with Bruce Willis in this movie about a man who loses 10 minutes of his memory after being shot in a bank heist that goes awry.
