QUANTUM LEAP---creator Donald Bellisario said he finished the script for a QUANTUM LEAP reboot movie, “I just finished writing a QUANTUM LEAP feature. I don’t know what’s going to happen with it, but I did write it. I write things exactly the same way. I just start writing and I let them take me wherever it’s going to take me. I’m entertained the same way the audience is. So I just put Scott [Bakula] and Dean [Stockwell] in my head, kind of rebooted them, and went from there.”
Bellisario also commented on the controversial series finale which stated that Dr. Beckett never returned home, “It was a great episode. Last episodes are always controversial. I always say to writers, ‘If you want a challenge more than writing just an hour of television, write an hour of television that is the last hour of television that that show will ever have on; write it so that it could also come back next fall; write it so that it could possibly become a movie of the week; [and] write it so that it could still potentially be a feature film someday. And make everybody happy… If you go back and watch that episode, [Bellisario] checked off all those boxes.”
The original series ran on NBC from 1989-1993.

SHAZAM!---Zachary Levi (CHUCK) will star in the movie based on the DC Comics superhero. David F. Sandberg (LIGHTS OUT) is the director.

Image

THE WALKING DEAD---Jeffrey Dean Morgan said Negan's past will be featured in Season 8, “There is a lot of Negan’s backstory out there. We haven’t filmed any of that, but there are conversations with a few characters where we’ll find out a little more about him. We’ll have some quieter moments this year, some one-on-one interactions where you’ll learn more about where he’s from. Even if you hate Negan, you’re gonna start to understand how he became the man that he is and why he does the things that he does.”
Morgan added that if Negan's wife, Lucille, appears in Season 8, he wants his wife, Hilarie Burton to play her, “If we ever film that, I would go with my wife. I’m gonna say her cause I’ll need a place to go after this is over. Hilarie read the comic books and is as much invested in it as we all are. She’s said, ‘Jeff, could you put in a word for me?'”

Image

STAR WARS---Ahmed Best, who played the much-maligned Jar Jar Binks, tweeted that he has been forgotten in his and Jar Jar's contributions to motion capture performances, “I don’t know how to retweet this and not sound bitter, but I feel I have been forgotten. No disrespect to the great @andyserkis”.
He later added, “Thanks for the love today especially the Star Wars fans. Jar Jar is bigger than just me or my performance. As much as we actors are on the front line when it comes to the success or the failure of characters we play, what’s more important is the accomplishment of bringing the work to the screen.
Jar Jar helped create the workflow, iteration process and litmus test for all CGI characters to this day on some days the code was being written in real time as I was moving. To deny Jar Jar’s place in film history is to deny the hundreds of VFX technicians, animators, code writers and producers their respect."

TRICK' R TREAT---director/writer Michael Dougherty said he's hoping to write a sequel after he finishes directing GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, "It’s currently the first week of October, so obviously my mind is drifting back to it. I would love to finish writing it in post-production [of KING OF THE MONSTERS, and then I’d love to make it my next project. But we’ll see.”

But we’re all f—ing crazy so we go to the VA hospital to get our meds. We’re all like shellshocked, PTSD…soldiers.”
Then Boyd Holbrook’s character is put on the bus, “He’s a guy they’ve actually marked to kill him because he’s seen a UFO, he’s seen the Predator ships come down so they lock him up and throw him in with us lunatics. They’re going to take that bus, drive it down to a ditch and shoot us all just to get rid of this one guy.
But, of course, we take the bus over and we’re all like ‘f— that man, let’s go kill these f—ing Predators ourselves’ and we’re just crazy enough to believe that this guy really did see a UFO and there’s these aliens out there.”

Image

HOUSE OF CARDS---Netflix announced the series will end after Season 6 after sexual assault allegations were made against Kevin Spacey. One source said the series was originally planned for six seasons. Three spinoff series are being considered, including one focused on Doug Stamper.

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE---Tessa Thompson said she and other MCU actresses asked Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige to consider an all-female MCU movie, “I think in that group was Brie Larson, myself, Zoe Saldana...Scarlett Johansson. Pom [Klementieff] and Karen [Gillan], who are both in the Guardians movies...We were just sort of all in a semicircle talking, and it just came up, because none of us really worked together...and wouldn’t it be nice if we could all work together?
And we were sort of speculating on they ways in which it might happen in INFINITY WAR, or might not happen. And we thought, ‘No, we should just have a whole movie where we know every day we’re going to arrive and get to work together.’ So we just ran right up to Kevin Feige and started talking about it.”

STRANGER THINGS---executive producer Shawn Levy commented on Dr. Brenner, “Whether or not people feel that episode was entirely successful, the Duffers want to take some swings, and they know that they’re not gonna please everybody. BLADE RUNNER---Michael Deeley, co-producer of the original 1982 movie, commented on the disappointing box office of the sequel which he hasn't seen yet, “The picture is very long. It must have been cut-able and should have been. They can’t do better [box office] because they can’t play it more than three times a day because it’s just too long, which is of course self-indulgent at the very least, arrogant probably. It’s criminal.”
He also attributed the original film's disappointing box office to fellow producers Bud Yorkin and Jerry Perenchio, “The film didn’t catch fire for ten years so I couldn’t have made a remake or another version of it and I wouldn’t have wanted to anyway. One of the things that spelt doom straight away was when Perenchio decided that he wanted to release the picture quickly to get his money back quickly. That was ignorant and naive. The only time this picture could ever be released sensibly was in the late autumn or in the winter when you could have capitalised on award nominations. Instead, they decided to do it in summer, opposite another little known sci-fi movie – a picture called ET. I wouldn’t talk to Bud Yorkin or Perenchio or have anything to do with them for the rest of my life.”

BRETT RATNER---director Ratner (X-MEN: THE LAST STANDING, RUSH HOUR) is the latest Hollywood celebrity to be accused of sexual harassment. Henstridge said Ratner forced her to perform oral sex on him in his apartment when she was 19 years old, “He strong-armed me in a real way. He physically forced himself on me. At some point, I gave in and he did his thing.” Ratner's attorney denied the allegations.
Warner Bros. is reviewing its production deal with Ratner after the accusations were made.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2

Also, creature designer Neal Scanlan revealed a new creature in THE LAST JEDI, “Fathiers have the power and majestic quality that one might find in a male lion and also beauty in their equine aspects. They’re racing creatures, with bets placed upon them, and are subjected to slightly cruel treatment. We knew any version of those in a wide shot would be CG but we produced a real-scale practical version for the first encounter with a Fathier, so it was able to look over the stable door and Finn could touch and act with it. They’re amazing creatures.”
Also, the WALL STREET JOURNAL reports that Walt Disney Pictures has set lucrative rules for theaters showing THE LAST JEDI. Disney will get 65% of tickets sales instead of the usual 55%, the theater must show the sequel for at least four weeks and if it isn't shown at all screenings without Disney's permission, Disney will get 70% of ticket sales.

We are not rushing to meet a release date and will move forward with these films when we feel they are the best versions of themselves.”

Astin suggested his own plot for the tv series, “The Mines of Moria are referred to a lot in LORD OF THE RINGS. And I guess in the HOBBIT trilogy, you spent a little bit of time with them, but the culture of the dwarves in the mines… I would love to see like five hours of that.”

I wait for the phone to ring and then I find out, but it hasn’t rung so I don’t know. I’ll find out whether I am or not at some point, but for now I haven’t been notified so I’m yet to discover.”
