BLACK PANTHER---trailer released for the Marvel superhero movie.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjDjIWPwcPU&t=33s

HAN SOLO---Ron Howard posted a photo of writer Jon Kasdan and assistant director Toby Hefferman playing Tag and Bink, two characters from the Star Wars comic book TAG AND BINK ARE DEAD, who will appear in the young Han Solo movie.

THE IRISHMAN---photo released of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro on the film set of the Martin Scorsese movie about mob hitman Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran.

MARVEL STUDIOS---director David Fincher took a shot at Marvel for helping create a Hollywood that emphasizes superhero movies, “Look, there’s a very large talent pool of people who don’t feel there’s much for them in terms of sustenance working for Marvel. And I think that if we can make a playground for them that is thoughtful, adult, interesting, complex, challenging stories and figure out ways to pull them into it, there’s a chance at something that isn’t lassoed and hogtied by three acts. And there’s something else that doesn’t have to be 22-minute half hour or have a cliffhanger. I think it is an exciting time.”

JUDGE DREDD: MEGA-CITY ONE---Karl Urban spoke about what it would take for him to return as Judge Dredd for the tv series based on the DREDD movie, “Well, Rebellion[Productions], who owns the rights to Judge Dredd, are currently developing a television series called MGE-CITY ONE, and I’ve had many discussions with them about my involvement of which I am interested, and I said to them, ‘Listen, if you write a character that has a function and a purpose and contributes to the overall story, then I might be very interested in reprising that role.’ I certainly wouldn’t want to step into it and just pay lip service to the movie. There has to be some material there that warrants further exploration of that character. So the ball’s in their court.”

IT---Timothy Simons who tested for the role of Pennywise, talked about his scene which was deleted from the movie, "It was [Pennywise] way back at the beginning of Derry convincing the woman to give him her baby to eat. And it was scary. The thing that was scariest about it was that it was very direct. It was, ‘If you don’t do this, these are the things that I’m going to do.’ And they were all terrible."

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD---Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) is reportedly THE WALKING DEAD character who will crossover to FEAR THE WALKING DEAD.

AVATAR---Giovanni Ribisi is returning as Parker Selfridge for the four sequels.

BIRD BOX---Jacki Weaver (SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK) and Sarah Paulson (AMERICAN HORROR STORY) will co-star with Sandra Bullock and Jon Malkovich in the movie based on the sci fi novel about a blindfolded mother and her two children who flee down a river in a row boat during an alien invasion of Earth.

GAMBIT---a rumor says Red Death is the movie's main villain.

TRON---Jared Leto commented on the rumored reboot movie, “It was a huge movie for me as well and I do think there’s so much potential in that world, there’s so much left to be said. I’m absolutely game to try to help in any way that I can bring that to life… It’s something that we’re in discussions about and very much looking forward to bringing to reality. It’s very early days though.”

SUITS---a source said Meghan Markle will not return for Season 8 in order to announce her engagement to Prince Harry.

THE NIGHT SHIFT---NBC cancelled the series.

It's source added, “Bond needs to keep up with the times and will be looking into Elon Musk’s world, spacecrafts, planes that can fly across the earth in an hour, cars turning into submarines. That’s what we need to include now. Daniel’s stunts are going to move to a new level… He’s involved every step of the way, as he always is, and he’s bursting with enthusiasm and excitement.”

HARVEY WEINSTEIN---Rose McGowan posted a cryptic photo of her 1998 horror movie PHANTOMS with the caption, "This is the movie I was filming when it happened. I played a 16 year old." McGowan claimed she was raped by Weinstein in 1997 at the Sundance Film Festival. PHANTOMS starred Peter O'Toole, Ben Affleck, Liev Schreiber and Joanna Going. Earlier, McGowan tweeted, "F*ck off" to Affleck after he posted his disgust over Weinstein's sex scandal.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI---photo released of Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern) rallying members of the Resistance.

JOHN CARPENTER---Carpenter commented on remakes of his movies, “I love it, if they are going to pay me money. If they pay me, it’s wonderful. If they don’t pay me, I don’t care. I think it’s unfair if they don’t pay me. I think everyone should pay me. Why not? I’m an old guy now and I need money. Send me money.”

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS---speculation continues that Eiza Gonzalez (BABY DRIVER) will play Catwoman in the SUICIDE SQUAD spinoff movie after director David Ayer followed her on Twitter, Gonzalez posted a photo of herself in a Catwoman-like costume and she was seen on the Warner Bros. lot.

GAME OF THRONES---Marc Rissmann (INTO THE BADLANDS) will play Harry Strickland, leader of the Golden Company mercenaries, in two Season 8 episodes.

THE WALKING DEAD---Norman Reedus commented on the upcoming Season 8, “Season 8 feels like our old show again. The people I like working with the most are the ones I’m working with again. The gang’s back together. The fight’s back in it. Last year was so rough. It didn’t feel like our show and I know it is our show, and you’ve got to do stuff like that, but last year felt so disconnected. Everyone was so disconnected in the core group. So it feels like it used to feel again which is really exciting.”

I AM MOTHER---Hillary Swank stars in this sci fi movie about a robot mother raising a teenage girl underground to repopulate the Earth. However, a blood-drenched woman appears and begins to threaten the relationship between mother and daughter.

THE NEW MUTANTS---director Josh Boone said the movie is the first of a horror trilogy, “These are all going to be horror movies, and they’re all be their own distinct kind of horror movies. Our take was just go examine the horror genre through comic book movies and make each one its own distinct sort of horror film."

DETECTIVE PIKACHU---Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson are candidates to provide the lead voice for the animated movie underway based on the Pokemon game "The Great Detective Pikachu"

12 STRONG---trailer released for the Afghanistan war movie starring Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon which is based on the book HORSE SOLDIERS.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSuAAfKkgb0

I, TONYA---trailer released for the movie starring Margot Robbie as Olympic skater Tonya Harding and her attack on rival Nancy Kerrigan before the 1994 Winter Olympics.

THE PUNISHER---new Netflix trailer released for the series starring Jon Bernthal.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMW_dPtm7Bo

THE SNOWMAN---the serial killer movie starring Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson and JK Simmons has received dismal reviews with a 34/100 Metacritic rating and a 26% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Director Toma Alfredson (TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY) attributed the poor reviews to the movie's rushed production, “It happened very abruptly. Suddenly we got notice that we had the money and could start the shoot in London. Our shoot time in Norway was way too short, we didn’t get the whole story with us and when we started cutting we discovered that a lot was missing.”
He added that 10-15% of the script had not been written when filming began, “It’s like when you’re making a big jigsaw puzzle and a few pieces are missing so you don’t see the whole picture.”

VIVIEN---Vivien Leigh biomovie underway based on the biography VIVIEN LEIGH: A BIOGRAPHY which focuses on her career, her marriage to Laurence Olivier and her afflictions with tuberculosis and bipolar disorder. Michael Zam and Jaffe Cohen (FEUD: BETTE AND JOAN) will write the script.

FREDDY VS. JASON---Robert Englund commented on if he might return as Freddy Kreuger, “I’m too old to do another Freddy now. If I do a fight scene now it’s got to be real minimal because I can’t snap my head for eight different takes and different angles. My spine gets sore. I can still be mean and scary, but I’m mostly relegated now to sort of Van Helsing roles, old doctors and sh*t. So it’s fun that the last moment of me ever playing Freddy is a wink to the audience.”

HORROR---untitled horror tv series underway with Alfonso Cuaron (GRAVITY) as writer/director/producer. Casey Affleck will star and is the co-producer. No plot details were released.

SALVATION---CBS renewed the series for Season 2.

THE SIMPSONS---a documentary, SPRINGFIELD OF DREAMS, to honor the 25th anniversary of the "Homer at Bat" episode will air on October 22.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX---a fan who talked with JJ Abrams and writer Chris Terrio commented on their conversation, “They said that they’re going to be brave and there will be big surprises. I got the impression that JJ felt like he had to refresh previous Star Wars moments for a modern audience in TFA [THE FORCE AWAKENS], and now it feels like they have free reign to do what they want. Apparently they’ve had no interference from Kathleen [Kennedy] or Pablo [Hidalgo] or the Lucasfilm Story Group. 9 is also the film which unites all three trilogies and brings everything together. That’s all they would tell me.
I worry a little bit that the questions I was asking were too leading. I was speaking to Chris and he was talking about the OT [original trilogy]. I said about how I grew up with the PT [prequel trilogy] and the prequels were my entry point into Star Wars. I asked about elements of the PT coming into 9 and Chris said about how 9 unites all of it. He said 9 definitely makes it feel like they’re all happening in the same universe, and there would be PT elements in 9. They could be visual or thematic – he didn’t overtly say that there would be returning planets or characters from the PT or anything.”

STAR WARS---David Fincher explained why he declined a chance to direct a STAR WARS movie, “I talked to [producer Kathleen Kennedy] about that and look, it’s a plum assignment. I don’t know what’s worse: being George Lucas on the set of the first one where everyone’s going, ‘Alderaan? What the hell is this?’ Where everyone’s making fun, but I can’t imagine the kind of intestinal fortitude one has to have following up the success of these last two. That’s a whole other level. One is that you have to endure the withering abuse of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, and the other is you have to live up to a billion or a billion-five, and that becomes its own kind of pressure.
You’d have to really clear your head, I think. You’d have to really be sure this is what you wanted to do because either way it’s two years of your life, 14 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Fincher also commented on the WORLD WAR Z sequel, “We’re hoping to get a piece of material that’s a reason to make a movie, not an excuse to make a movie”.

HOLLYWOOD'S MOST PROFITABLE---UK gaming site PartyCasino analyzed data from the top 100 movies from 1980-2017 to determine Hollywood's most and least profitable actors and movies based on how many dollars were generated versus one dollar spent.

Most profitable actors:
Emilio Estevez--$6.70

Johnny Depp--20 cents
Robert De Niro--24 cents
Hugh Jackman--25 cents
Anthony Hopkins--26 cents

Most profitable actresses:
Rose Byrne--$9.80
Regina Hall--$3.50
Octavia Spencer--$2.90

Most profitable movies:

Least profitable movies:

IT 2---Bill Skarsgard commented on changes for the sequel, “The first movie worked so well at what it is trying to do, I think, and ultimately that is the kids’ story, and you follow these kids and you sort of fall in love with these kids. And the second one will be the adult story. And I think the right way to do it is to make that movie actively different.
...It could be almost a sort of surrealistic sort of psychedelic trip if you go into the mind of Pennywise. And if you’ve read the novel you know that they do actually go into his mind. Or they go into this transdimensional place, and they sort of beat him in this place. Which might be interesting, what that place would be, and what would it look like."

JUSTICE LEAGUE---Zack Snyder posted a photo of himself with the Atlanteans and the Amazons on the film set.

THE SHAPE OF WATER---poster released for the Guillermo del Toro romantic monster movie.

PLAYBOY---PLAYBOY announced that French model Ines Rau is the magazine's first transgender Playmate and will be featured in the November/December issue, the first issue after founder Hugh Hefner's death.

VENOM---Scott Haze (THEY YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE) is in talks to join the cast in an undisclosed role.

MIRACLE WORKERS---Steve Buscemi will play God in the TBS comedy anthology series starring Daniel Radcliffe. Buscemi replaces Owen Wilson.

CHELSEA---Chelsea Handler announced she's not returning to her Netflix show, "For these reasons, I've decided not to return for another season of 'Chelsea', and instead devote as much time as I can to becoming a more knowledgeable and engaged citizen and to focus on projects that have significance to me. My goal is to be better informed, raise my voice, and participate in a more meaningful way."
However, an inside source said the show was really cancelled and was caused by Handler's bitter feud with Jennifer Aniston, “Jen’s friends are all staunchly loyal, and are not interested in hanging with Chelsea...Maybe that fight had something to do with it. She was used to getting top people but then they stopped coming on her show. Netflix wanted her to deliver A-list stars and she wasn't."
The source added, "Chelsea wasn't funny anymore. Netflix signed up for a funny show. She was bitter and mean. Netflix was fine with Chelsea doing a political show as long as it was funny or biting, but it wasn't."

PROJECT 13---CW series underway based on the DC Comics character Traci Thirteen described as, “a twenty-something forensic scientist and believer in the paranormal who discovers her own hidden extra-sensory abilities when she joins her estranged, skeptic father to investigate mysterious cases of the paranormal and unexplained phenomena.”

BIG GUNS---movie underway based on the novel by former New York Congressman Steve Israel in which Chicago's mayor starts a national campaign to ban handguns while an Arkansas congressman introduces a bill which requires all Americans to own a handgun.

Poster link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uYG8XP2MkM

MAGNUM, PI---CBS reboot pilot underway with Thomas Magnum, an ex-SEAL who becomes a private detective after a combat tour in Afghanistan. He is helped by ex-MI6 agent Juliet Higgins, TC Calvin and Rick Wright. The original Tom Selleck series ran on CBS from 1980-1988. The writers are Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim (HAWAII FIVE-O reboot).

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---CBS All Access renewed the series for Season 2. The network still hasn't released information on how many viewers are watching the series, how many new subscribers signed up and how much the budget is.

THOR: RAGNAROK---Tessa Thompson, confirmed her character, Valkyrie, will be Marvel Studios' first openly LGBT superhero, "She’s bi. And yes, she cares very little about what men think of her. What a joy to play!"

PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING---director Steven S. DeKnight said he wants a monster crossover between PACIFIC RIM and GODZILLA and KONG: SKULL ISLAND, “I won’t say there’s an Easter Egg but there’s been a lot of discussion about that possibility [of crossing over]. Look I think it would be fantastic to have the PACIFIC RIM universe join Legendary’s Monster Universe, it seems like a natural step. And part of the big overall plan after the third movie we’ve talked about is that could happen, it’s always a possibility. It’s by far not a certainty; it’s merely theoretical at this point, but as a fan myself I would love to see that happen.”

LAST ACTION HERO---Arnold Schwarzenegger commented on why his 1993 movie, with a budget of $85 million and grossed $15 million in the US, failed, “It was one of those things where President Clinton was elected and the press somehow made the whole thing kind of political where they thought, ‘OK, the ’80s action guys are gone here’s a perfect example,’ and they wrote this narrative before anyone saw the movie. The action hero era is over, Bill Clinton is in, the highbrow movies are the ‘in’ thing now, I couldn’t recuperate.”

THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB---Sylvia Hoeks (BLADE RUNNER 2049) will play Camilla, the evil twin sister of Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy), in the Sony Pictures sequel.

THE WALKING DEAD---Andrew Lincoln commented on what he would be doing if he had not been in THE WALKING DEAD and hinted he wants a STAR WARS role, “I may have been a cheese maker. Or a pig farmer. But Dave Morrissey and I… we used to sort of joke that we were the only actors in British Equity that hadn’t been in the Harry Potter franchise, so maybe I would have been wizarding about Hogwarts or hobbit-ing about Middle Earth, and I always fancied the idea of getting my hands around a lightsaber.”

JUDY---Renee Zellweger stars in this Judy Garland biomovie about Garland's final concerts in London in 1968.

WOMAN WALKS AHEAD---Jessica Chastain, Ciaran Hinds and Sam Rockwell star in this movie based on the true story of an 1880s New York artist who travels to North Dakota to paint the portrait of Chief Sitting Bull and helps him in his struggle for Native American land rights against the US government.

EPIPHANY---CW tv series underway about a group of researchers who investigate an old mansion which is haunted.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM---Jeff Goldblum commented about the return of Dr. Ian Malcolm, “Ian Malcolm, yes, might be back in this one, and he might have something to say about the current confluence of circumstances around the use and misuse of technology. With some wry irony, deep wise passionate conviction, and he might put on a nice dark bit of clothing here and there … and a tint of glass maybe.”
He added about where Malcolm has been for the last 20 years, “What’s he been in the meantime? He opened a jazz club, probably, and he’s been playing every Wednesday in a place called Rockwell. He calls it Rockwell.”
Also, Janet Hirshenon, the casting director for JURASSIC PARK, said Jim Carrey almost got the role of Ian Malcolm after a "terrific" audition.
Steven Spielberg said he offered the role of Dr. Alan Grant to Harrison Ford, but Ford declined the role, so Sam Neill played Dr. Grant.
Sean Connery, a friend of Michael Crichton after their THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY movie, almost got the role of John Hammond, but he wanted too much money, so Richard Attenborough played the creator of Jurassic Park.

TERMINATOR 6---Arnold Schwarzenegger said the sequel will ignore all the movies after TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, “It’s hard to come up with new ideas when you stay within that framework...I think [James] Cameron and Tim [Miller] came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie. What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.”

THE WALKING DEAD---the Season 8 premiere drew 11.4 million viewers which is down 35% from Season 7's premiere of 17.5 million viewers.
Also, Addy Miller, who played the little girl zombie who was the first zombie killed by Rick Grimes in the first episode of the series, had a cameo in the Season 8 premiere.

ZOO---CBS cancelled the series.

HUNTER---tv series underway based on journalist Hunter S. Thompson. Bob Nelson (NEBRASKA) is the writer.

SHARIF---new untitled ABC sitcom about the Sharif family, “an ordinary Middle Eastern American family with two superhero parents at a time when it’s illegal to be a superhero, so they are forced to save the world in secret.”

DORA THE EXPLORER---Paramount Pictures live-action movie underway based on the animated character. Michael Bay is the producer.
