These arguments will no doubt

These arguments will no doubt inspire critical listening, but, from my own perspective I sense folks just are not into audio as most of us were 50 years ago. Today, I download the hi res stuff from HDtracks for its convenience and my perception that it might sound better. So far, I really can't hear...

I just downloaded from the

I just downloaded from the iTunes Store, Take Me Away (Into The Night), the second cut from the 4 Strings 2009 re-mix CD. From my laptop, interfaced to a Sony TA-E9000ES with a Creative Sound Blaster X-FI HD, it sounds utterly awesome. Bringing out the richness of my JBL L100t3's and a JBL B380 sub,...

How will you be using

How will you be using your DAT recorder these days. I know at one time my personal use of my professional Sony recorders was just to make play-lists from CD's, but, today, I do that sort of thing much more easily and conveniently on the laptop. For me, today my DAT recorders seem at their best for n...

I'm thinking about purchasing a Sony SCD-XA5400ES to replace my VDP-S9000ES. I'm anticipating the 5400 will sound better,  is my expectation reasonable?

Not to hi-jack, but my

Not to hi-jack, but my TA-E9000es has V1.18A firmware. I've been thinking about installing 2.1 and 2.5. I downloaded the firmware and I have keys, but I worry I might be opening up a can of worms. I've also heard I might get noise which is absent now. And, for sure, I have no complaint with the firm...

I've got a pair of Sony PCM-7010F's with a RM-D7200 edit controller. Awesome, plus, these units are still serviceable. Flat rate is $895.00 to rebuild as required to meet specs. You can buy one of these today for peanuts off E-Bay and have a really good recorder, as good as any time-code recorder ou...

As I understand it, 2.1

As I understand it, 2.1 must be installed before 2.5. Google up Sony TA-E9000es and you'll see a web site which is all about the TA-E9000es. It gives information about the necessity to install 2.1 before 2.5. You can download both 2.1 and 2.5 from that site.

Selling my VDP-S9000es on E-Bay

Selling my VDP-S9000es on E-Bay might get me a hundred bucks. To buy a new 5400 will be about $1200. So, it appears my cost for the upgrade will be somewhere around $1100.00. i guess what I'm asking is will the 5400 sound better enough for me to part with my hard earned money. If it does not sound b...

I'm learning a little bit

I'm learning a little bit about wire. My  1996 Chevy Tahoe's radio just lost the AM radio signal. The tech says I need a new antennna assembly. The cable is connected correctly but it appears the wire is worn out. i'm re-thinking cables now.

My VDP-S9000ES was purchased about

My VDP-S9000ES was purchased about 10 years ago; and, although stereo SACD's sound real good from it, I really can't discern that it sounds better than when listening to the same music downloaded from iTunes and played  from my Dell Inspiron 14 laptop through a mini headphon...
