I only recently discovered this

I only recently discovered this site, but I like what I see thus far.  <BR><BR>I'm all set to purchase a 42" Sony KDF-E42A10 projection LCD on Friday, and I've been picking up a few accessories beforehand.  I bought a <A href="http://www.crutchfield.com/S-X6Dsp2nH2Xe/cgi-bin/prodview....

jehill:  if I do keep

<BR><BR>jehill:  if I do keep the UPS, am I best off keeping it plugged directly into the wall outlet?  It seems running it through a surge-protected strip would tax the outlet overmuch.  If that is the case, the matter of available outlets becomes pressing.  I would run my TV an...

Thanks for the tip, vafbtony.

Thanks for the tip, vafbtony.  I dug around a bit and found generally favorable reviews of the Belkin AP30800-10.  I dug further and found one for $280 shipped ($40 more than another site, but this one was in stock).  On that note, I can't believe the price discrepancy for this item; ...

The video DAC has 10

<BR><BR>The video DAC has 10 bits at 54 MHz, jehill.  If all signals are going to utlimately be converted to component when the reach the TV, wouldn't it make more sense to simply run a component connection?  What's the advantage of an HDMI or DVI connection if it's just going to be switch...

Getting back to one of

Getting back to one of jehill's questions, how much difference does a higher DAC bit-rate make?  10-bit, 54 MHz seems to be the norm at the "budget" price range, but I did notice that the similarly-priced Sony models step it up to 12-bit, 108 MHz.

Ha, sorry.  I continued this

Ha, sorry.  I continued this dicussion in the duplicate thread under TV Configuration.  I ended up returning the Monster UPS and instead went with the Belkin PureAV 30800-10.  The extra outlets in the Belkin are a necessity with my setup.  Regardless of whether or not the Monster...

I had ordered a Toshiba

I had ordered a Toshiba SD-6980 HDMI-enabled DVD player before I picked up my TV, and it arrived yesterday.  I eagerly disconnected my older, component-connected Sony DVD player and hooked up the Toshiba via HDMI in its place.  I popped in <EM>Return of the King </EM>to test out the new pi...

I did a pricegrabber search

I did a pricegrabber search and ended up grabbing it from thetwistergroup.com.  I could have actually gotten it for about $30 less, but it wasn't due to be in stock at the other site for a month or more.

Now that I have my

Now that I have my components arranged the way they're going to stay, I figure I'm safe posting a picture of my setup.  The next step is probably going to be upgrading my receiver and speakers, but that'll take some time; the TV is enough to pay for right now.<BR><BR><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="h...
