I finally found the manufacture

I finally found the manufacture date of September 1997 in very fine print on the back of my DVP-S7000 and I'm told that only those made prior to March 1997 have the little switches and early versions of firmware which permit the easy bypass.

When I push , the Test Mode Menu is displayed. ...

If there is a simple

If there is a simple DIY fix for a "stuck" front panel on my DVP-S7000, I'd like to hear about it. I plays great but just looks a little sad in appearance when it's off. As I've mentioned elsewhere, examining the innards makes me nervous and I don't have any special tools with ...

My first flat screen, the KDL-32LL150 which I bought at Costco (made in Mexico) three years ago, recently and quite literally went on the blink. The picture has ghosts, jitters, flickers, etc.

I called the 1-800-222-SONY support line and, after quite a bit of courteous banter ...

jehill, Thanks for the

jehill,

Thanks for the info. I'll try that. I was surprised that any SONY product would have a "built-in obsolescence" but I see that it is intrinsic to the technology until they can make it more robust (without costing $10,000).

...

It wasn't actually in the dumpster but on the concrete slab next to it. I had noticed it a few days earlier and there was a light rain in the interim before I decided to get my 2-wheeler hand truck and cart it home. Originally there had been an even older SONY remote t...

One feature that had mystified me was the "VM" adjustment in the video menu. After finding the entire operating instructions at http://esupport.sony.com/US/ (a great resource), I learned that "VM" is "Velocity Modulation" or edge enha...
