Hey All, This is the

Hey All, This is the top of the line 32 inch 4:3 HDTV ready set available in the USA right now. Both DirecTV DBS, and to a lesser degree DVD playback, seem a bit "out of focus". There is an obvious lack of clarity. The people who delivered this monster (almost 200 pounds) turned the box end-over-end...

Hey wdsnls, Thanks for the

Hey wdsnls, Thanks for the reply. It didn't look right to me when they were tipping it end over end to get it up the stairs. Of course, this is my word against theirs, but why would I even think of making it up? I trust the dealer and contacted him today, so we'll see what happens. I was tempted to ...

To Threadsters, Thanks for the

To Threadsters, Thanks for the replies. I have used a new Sony DVP-NC685V progressive scan, SACD, brand new DVD player. Routed to the HS510's "Video 5" input via brand new Dayton Audio component video cables. The clarity of the picture, particularly when viewing text, still does not look as good as ...

Hey All You Sony Tech

Hey All You Sony Tech Heads, I've got the KV32HS510 with the lack of clarity problems, see my original post for details. The dealer I bought it from ( a great place, BTW) is sending over a Tech on Wednesday AM to put the KV32HS510 into service mode and see what is up. What should I be looking for as...

Why screw around with "unathorized"

Why screw around with "unathorized" Sony net dealers anyway? All"authorized" means is that they are "supposedly bound" to not sell the unit below a price determined by Sony. But this is a very flexible policy, and a straight shooting "authorized" dealer like J&R will price match most anyone's"unatho...

Maybe it is not cool

Maybe it is not cool that I use this forum for "advertising"? I hope I am not violating rules/etiquette. My guy in NJ is strictly local, not even an 800 number, and I see you are in FL. J&R Music World is: http://www.jandr.com. HTH, Ai...

Hey All, What advantage, if

Hey All, What advantage, if any, of running separate cables from the 5.1 channel ouput on the back of the 685 to ( one of ) the 5.1 inputs on my STR-DA4ES? As opposed to running a high quality optical (Toslink) cable from the 685 to my 4ES? Just curious... Aidendey

rb-- Thanks to my Canadian

rb-- Thanks to my Canadian advisor. It makes sense--- I was just curious why Sony would use the precious real estate on the rear panel of the DA4ES for TWO sets of 5.1 channel inputs... I don't know what could sound better than a DVD encoded with DTS-ES, that soundtrack encoding scheme seems so much...

I would vote for most

I would vote for most anywhere on "The Predator" DVD for older decoding schemes, and most anywhere on "Blade II" ( DTS-ES version) for newer. "Matrix Reloaded" has got some almost "real" sounding bullet trajectory effects, but why they never encoded it into DTS-ES is beyond me. I do prefer that over...

What is the US equivalent?

What is the US equivalent? ( I am guessing STR-DA2000ES, but could easily be wrong.) I am using the USA model STR-DA4ES,one of the last "analog" ES receivers. Analog or not, for what it does, how it does it, and the delivered price of $650.00, I could not be more pleased. In the VFM department, Sony...
