Well I'm brand new here

Well I'm brand new here but just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents...I am using a Sony 4es reciever to power NHT 2.3a tower speakers as my front L/R These are 4 ohm speakers. They recommend 30-200wpc. I was told my a VERY knowlegable Sony dealer and electrical engineer that I could change the impedanc...

I have hardwood floors as

I have hardwood floors as well and have had both down and frontfiring subs. I have tried putting a blanket under the downfiring sub but it didnt improve the sound...I'd say this would only be important if your bass has too much "bloom" and not as much accuracy. I have heard that putting something on...

I got a protection mode

I got a protection mode in my 4es at one time. A friend and I had just hooked it up and had to splice some wire for one of the surrounds and he crossed the wires. I figured it out through the automated sony tech support telephone #... I would disconnect all speakers and add them one by one until you...

I have 2 subs and

I have 2 subs and one has an external amp (NHT SW2p) with the on off switch that also includes a "standby" mode which I find annoying because if I'm listening to music softly it will shut itself off, so I just just the regular on/off on the amp and disable standby. The other sub (Sony WM-40) is the ...

Well to start things off

Well to start things off let me begin by saying I LOVE my 4es. It's a really good reciever and I paid $597 plus $30 shipping for it so it was pretty cheap. That being said there are a LOT of good recievers in this price bracket. The 7es I have seen for just under a grand...subjectively to me this wa...
