Re: Any turntable enthusiests around?

I enjoy a Sony PS-4750, which I bought back in 1979. It's outfitted with a Shure V15 cartridge. This turntable was my first Sony purchase. It was also the first turntable that actually seemed to properly play my record collection. Still, the snap, crackle, and pops common with LP playback has underm...

The times they are a changin'

First Sterling1 and Sterlling2 are one and the same. I just got around to re-registering. Since my last post over a year ago it does not look like anything revolutionary has come to the Home Theatre arena to make me feel I need to go out and buy anything to improve my immersion into the experience. ...

Re: Whatever Happened to Blu-ray ?

I tried Netflix. I was disappointed. Content was not exactly blockbuster; and, surround sound never materialized . So, B movies in stereo was what I got. Since my leisure time is a luxury spending it watching low quality movies, in every respect the word quality can be construed, simply did not appe...

Re: Which DAT (DIGITAL TAPE) DECK SHOULD I BUY???

I thought I'd resurrect this thread. I've seen plenty of consumer and pro DAT recorders lately on eBay. Some of the deals seem too good to not indulge, like a low mileage $9000.00 Sony PCM-7040 for just a few hundred bucks. I know these machines are obsolete in this era of modern digital recording; ...

Re: Where does Sony/ES go from here?

It seems Marantz has the component line up that I wish Sony mirrored. For now, I'd just like to see a replacement for the TAE-9000ES pre/pro. Make it hi-res with HDMI, and Wi-Fi. As far as their new hi-res ES player goes, I just don't see the point. I can just use my laptop to wirelessly send hi-res...

Re: Why SACD failed

I don't think SACD failed. It's still the defacto medium for high fidelity; and, it's a big library perhaps though with too few multi channel offering and players which will process multi channel

Re: Why SACD failed

Multi-channel music from HDtracks? Please show me how. Also, downloads have no trade, swap, or resale value. In addition, storage is problematic. Multi-channel SACD still rules for multitude of reasons; and, it just sounds better than anything else out there. I'm sorry that Sony has abandoned it; bu...

Re: "4K TVs are still stupid"

Really, take a closer look, literally, that's the scenario that should be addressed; and, it appears, as I see it, again, literally, the Sony 4K sets just sparkle more in a comparison to the same size 1080 sets out there today. The "sparkle" is much like what impression is made when viewin...
