Alert Description:Some STR-DA4300ES A/V receivers may experience issues when connected via HDMI. These issues can be resolved by a firmware update. Sony has put a program in place to replace or update affected STR-DA4300ES A/V receivers.

    Specific Symptoms

    * You may experience a darker than expected picture on your television when using your Sony® STR-DA4300ES A/V Receiver to upconvert a component video signal to an HDMI signal.
    * The on-screen menu is not visible, or may be slow to appear, when the STR-DA5300ES A/V receiver is connected via HDMI to a video source and television that are capable of Deep Color.
NOTE: Deep Color was added with HDMI version 1.3 and supports 10-bit, 12-bit, and 16-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths which allows rendering of over one billion colors in greater detail than previous versions.

    Affected Models
    AC Power Connector

STR-DA4300ES A/V receivers with serial numbers below 8804077 may be affected. The serial number can be found on the rear panel above the AC power connector.
