Sony said Monday it will sell a projector that displays and saves notes scribbled onto the images it projects.
The projector comes with two battery-powered infrared pens, which it uses to track what is being written on the screen. Both pens can be tracked at the same time, and each can also be used as a standard computer mouse during presentations.
The company said the projector can be used in classroom settings to save comments written on screen during a lesson, then posted or used in future classes. In business settings, the device can be used as a virtual whiteboard and to save meeting notes directly to a computer.

For those that purchased a 3D television immediately and were disappointed in the lack of 3D content, Sony has a small peace offering for 3D fanatics.
As of today, Sony launched a free “3D Experience” service for anyone that purchased a 3D Bravia television since 2010. The new channel is loaded onto the Bravia television (assuming the television is connected to the Internet) and provides access to 3D movie trailers as well as sports clips likely provided from the partnership with ESPN 3D. The service is available for United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France and Germany at the moment. Sony also has plans to add the content to other 3D devices such as 3D Blu-ray players and 3D home theater systems.

Sony Video: Sony’s Outs Two New OLED Monitors
|

Sony is continuing to expand its range of Pro monitors with more OLED-based displays. They're still a long way from being affordable to the general public, but the prices are definitely falling. The cost of a 25'' OLED display is already down 64% in just two months—but that change is based on the cost of the technology itself, not the models in question, which are actually very different.

How awesome is this. Control your Blu-Ray player through your iPhone.
3D TV is being pushed from all angles and today Sony has pulled the cloth off of its first Blue-ray players officially being labeled as 3D capable. The BDP-S470 player is expected to have a firmware update by mid summer which will support 1080p playback and should be shipping “on or around March 18th” for only $200. iPhone users get an extra bonus as this player can be controlled by the new BD Remote App developed by SONORAN BLUE. The app sports both a simple or full remote view plus a soft keyboard and provides additional disc information. The S470 is just the first of many new devices said to support this remote option including the new BDV-E770W & E570 Home Theatre Systems.

Sony Video: Return of the $99.99 Sony Blu-ray player

A sub-$100 Blu-ray player is no big deal these days, but it's still fairly rare to find one that offers BD-Live at that price point--especially a Sony model.
Last month, SonyStyle offered the refurbished BDP-S360 Blu-ray player for $99.99 shipped (plus sales tax where applicable). I'm happy to report that the deal is back.
Happy, but not ecstatic. See, I now think if you're going to buy a Blu-ray player, you should get a model that can stream Netflix movies. This one can't.

Sony Video: Sony proposes increase in Blu-ray storage to 33.4 GB
|
Posted by claudio
on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 @ 00:12:19 EST (1993 reads)

With the exception of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII, games have rarely needed more than the 25 GB offered by a standard single-layer Blu-ray disc. The lack of demand hasn't stopped Sony and Panasonic, though. The two companies have developed a new technology called "i-MLSE" that can increase the capacity of a single-layer disc by about a third, to 33.4 GB. According to Nikkei Electronics, i-MLSE is a processor-intensive method that will allow players to properly calculate the read-error rate, a stumbling block that prevented larger capacity discs.
Presumably, it will only take a firmware update to ensure Blu-ray players (like the PS3) can utilize the new disc format. Sony plans on encouraging widespread adoption through the Blu-ray Disc Association, which shouldn't be a problem considering Sony plays a pretty large role in that organization.
